My Fees
Fee Estimate
After an initial meeting or phone call, I will put together a project proposal, which will include a fee estimate. If the proposal is acceptable, I will ask for an amount up front.
Hourly rate
I charge £60 per hour. I keep a detailed record of my time spent on your project and can produce weekly or monthly time sheets.
Fixed Fee
In certain cases a fixed fee arrangement can be agreed.
No VAT
I am acting in my own name as a sole trader. I am not registered for VAT (as I am not required to given the current thresholds) therefore will not charge VAT on my fees.
Costs
I design websites using software provided by Squarespace. It creates beautiful websites and is a user-friendly system for clients to use after the website is up and running. There are fixed costs (in addition to my fees) as follows:
Domain Name
If you don’t have one already, you will need a domain name. (This is the actual website address, e.g. www.katieyateswebsitedesign.com). This typically costs in the region of £16/year. Although you often get the first year free when you sign up for a Squarespace plan (below).
Website Subscription
Details of the various Squarespace plans can be found here. They start from £12/month and can be paid month/yearly. As a Squarespace Circle member, I can get 20% off your first year’s subscription.
Transaction Fees
If you want to sell products/services online there may be transaction fees charged by Squarespace (up to 3%) - though this will vary depending on the plan you choose. Payment processors (such as Stripe or PayPal) also charge fees (usually up to 3% plus a small fee in the region of 30p).
Additional Fees
Depending on what you want your website to do, there may be additional subscriptions needed. For example:
If you want to create content behind a paywall, you will need a Membership Area, which is an additional subscription.
If you want to have a booking facility you will need to add Scheduling which is an additional subscription.
If you want to run email marketing campaigns, you will need Email Campaigns, which is an additional subscription.
